About

Hi, my name is Carolyn Wootton.  I am a wife, mother, and grandmother.  I am a writer and  co-authored with my daughter, Dena Wootton Millet, of Cheaper, Greener, Cleaner; Ceiling to Floor Savings.  My husband Randy and I write screenplays together.  We love working together, and have been business partners since the day we were married.

Our family is a treasured aspect of our lives.  We have had our ups and downs, we had married children go through hard times and move back home.  We have also been a refuge for our children going through divorces, and all kinds of sorrow.  We have been blessed to have had our grandchildren live with us during many of these times.  We do not consider ourselves any better than any other parents or grandparents, we have been through much and have survived the heartache that each brings.  Through it all we kept a positive attitude for our children and grandchildren.  We knew that faith would carry each of us through the muck!

As our children and grandchildren would prepare to move on, we once again found ourselves as empty nesters again.  We love to spend time with them and share many activities.  We are field trip grandparents, we introduce new adventures, history, family heritages, reading the classics, arts and crafts to our darling grandchildren.   We are the summer camp counselors and the extension course type of grandparents.  We make learning and exploring fun for everyone.

We have many tips, tricks, and  hints as to how to connect with your grandchildren without having to be connected to an electronic device.   We do not profess to be the perfect grandparents, plenty of mistakes have made, thankfully, we have just found many ways to spend quality time  with our grandchildren, not just time spent.  We also realize that like many grandparents today, events, activities, and gifts are very expensive.

These are difficult and trying times, as our families expand more is required from our financial resources.  If you are among the many that do not have unlimited financial resources, on a limited income, or want to conserve as much as possible,  doing special things with your grandchildren can be cost prohibitive.  We may have some easy solutions for that as well.  It doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun.  Many adventures just require some imagination, not money, and we would like to share our experiences.

Hope we have fun in this season of our lives, connecting, reconnecting, sharing memories that will last lifetimes to come.  Remember, if you do not tell your children or grandchildren your stories, they will be lost forever!  Personal heritage is a valuable asset for building one’s self esteem!
